System for monitoring of vehicle operations LUPUS is part of the modular LUPUS System, awarded by the CZECH MADE excellent quality certificate No. 833520 for the time period June 1, 2000 till May 31, 2004. Following thorough technical testing, all vehicle units in this system were certified by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and obtained the mark ATEST 8SD as approved communication and safety devices for both cars and trucks.
The unit fulfills international criteria for electronic devices in automotive industry and has won EMC, e8 and e12 certificates from TÜV Vienna.
The system has been successfully used by dozens of international and national truck transport operators for more than nine years. Thousands of units are utilized in company cars as means of increasing efficiency, both in private companies and in governmental authorities.
LUPUS is registered international trademark for products of Princip a.s. Company.
Lupus production plant holds ISO 9002 quality certificate. Development, service and commercial departments of Princip a.s. are holders of ISO 9001 : 2000 quality certificate.
On-line units bring their users a benefit of real time monitoring of vehicles and such a degree of position updating as required. Additionally, all data transfers (logbook data, unit settings, or diagnostic and service functions of the supplier) are executed via GSM network, which means that no actions in the vehicle are necessary once the unit has been installed. Princip a.s. Company is a renowned manufacturer of GSM/GPS telematic units and is closely co-operating with all GSM operators on the Czech market.
The system is based on the underlying principle of transfer of positional information supplied by the GPS navigation system from the mobile unit into the monitoring center. Communication is supported by GSM network using SMS/DATA/GPRS service.
Mobile unit is designed as one compact box. Rugged unit housing provides mechanical resistance assures its long time operation life. Vehicles can be monitored at any time according to owner’s needs, either using GPRS service, or with SMS (position inquiry, reaching of the destination or in preset time interval). All telematic functions, including logbook recording, are part of the standard version. It is also possible to transmit other telemetric data from the vehicle, e.g. temperature in the cargo space, load of the vehicle, data from the flow meter and others. Unit enables driver to communicate with dispatch centre by the means of SMS or voice communication. There is a possibility to add a module with BlueTooth interface, which provides wireless data connection.
After parking the vehicle, mobile unit can (if requested) automatically switch over to power saving (Sleep) mode. The power consumption (even in the case of long term parking) does not have significant influence at vehicle battery capacity. In the case ignition is turned on, as well as in the case of defined status change of unit outputs (alarm, for example), the mobile unit switches over to operation mode. The mobile unit can also activate on itself after determined time interval in order to receive messages from the dispatch centre and if needed to react on them. Mobile unit provides alarm functions too. Another feature is a “panic button”, which can be activated form a driver’s seat.
The unit can be optionally fitted with an external accumulator as a backup power source in case of disconnecting the vehicle battery, which raises an alarm situation.
Connection to a car alarm device is also possible; the unit will transmit alert messages if the vehicle is being attacked. In any case, the monitoring center, security agency, police, etc. are informed immediately and, depending on the type of information transferred, can start data connection and track the vehicle in real time. Alert message to the owner’s mobile phone can also be transmitted.

Major functionalities:
3. CAN BUS / FMS
Mobile units MJ2016II SMP and CAN are able to read data from the vehicle bus CAN Bus of Volkswagen Group produced vehicles (e.g. Škoda) and from the track FMS bus.
Examples of monitored data:
4. Model of transfer of data to the central database
Data are transferred bi-directionally via GSM network. GPRS, DATA or SMS communications can be used. According to the setting, the unit can optimize the utilization of individual types of GSM communication.
Portal service provides for fleet management, vehicle monitoring, automatic logbook creation, statistics, and planning and archiving data at any place connected to a web browser by means of PC/NB/PDA/MDA. All telematic and telemetric functionalities are part of the standard design.
Quite often, small and medium-sized enterprises could not afford these otherwise economically favorable technologies because of their demanding management and pricing of the software. Not every enterprise can employ a skilled IT professional and most of them think twice about investment into regular and never-ending maintenance of software and data.
It is the web application that solves these and similar concerns over efficiency of deployment of GSM/GPS mobile units in company vehicles. Its revolutionary approach brings the capabilities of fleet management all over the world and in real time to the fingertips of any business, however small, at practically no cost. Internet access is all what is needed.
